A resident of the Ava area for the past 13 years Pearl Reed, the daughter of John and Lela Phillips, was born Jan. 26, 1922, in Wenaina, Ark., and departed this life Aug. 18, 2006, at the age of 84.
In 1952, Pearl and John C. Reed were united in marriage in Carson City, Nev. Pearl was a resident of the Ava area for the past 13 years. Pearl loved flower and vegetable gardening. She was a good cook and loved cooking for family and friends and for church activities. She was a loving grandmother and great grandmother. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren have many good memories.
Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers and one sister. A grandson said Papa John has been waiting for Granny Pearl a long time (18 years).
Her survivors include her son, Leroy Reed and his wife, Gwen, Ava; two grandchildren, Roy Reed, Branson, and Regina Cole, Waterford, Calif.; five great-grandchildren, Ashley, Camille, Carah, Wyath and Seth; one sister, Azora Phillips, of the state of Arkansas; and Pearl was a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews.
Cremation services are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava. A memorial service was held on Sunday, Aug. 20, at the Red Bank Church.
