Parents Russell and Oma Katherine Lathrop Wanda “Snooks” Jenkins, 55, entered her heavenly home Friday, July 14, 2006, at the Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, surrounded by her family and friends.
She started her earthly walk Sept. 26, 1950, in Ava, with parents Russell and Oma Katherine Lathrop. Snooks was united in marriage to Al Jenkins on Sept. 19, 1970.
Snooks enjoyed riding motorcycles and traveling with her husband, Al, and spending time with her family and friends. She loved to make music for her Lord. Most of all, Snooks loved to read her Bible, praise her Lord and do Christian work for the church and community.
Snooks was preceded in death by her parents, and a granddaughter, Jayla.
Survivors include her husband, Al; two sons, Telly Jenkins and wife, Stephanie, of Republic, and Cory Jenkins and wife, Jessica, of Ava; one brother, James “Butch” Lathrop, of Springfield; one sister, Rose Zella Myers and husband, Leroy, of Ava; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, at Goodhope General Baptist Church with the Revs. Robert Parker, Bob Husky and Zach Williams officiating, under the direction of Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ava. Burial followed in the Goodhope Cemetery.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Gideons International, American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, or the Goodhope Cemetery.
