Passed away at his home in Ava Melvin (Barney) G. Drapich, 84, Ava, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2006, at his home in Ava. He was born June 16, 1922, at Holms, Calif., to Samuel and Dolly Drapich.
On Sept. 4, 1960, he married Ruth E. Schuenemann in Carson City, Nev.
Melvin was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his brother, Clarence, and his stepfather, Lewis Adams.
He is survived by two sons, Bob State, of Ava, and James State and wife, Laurine, of Morgan, Calif.; a daughter, Robin Newby and her husband, Glenn, of Eureka, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers and one sister; a very special niece, Joyce Clinkingbeard; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today (Thursday) at Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Oren Alcorn officiating. Burial will be in the Ava Cemetery with full military honors.
Visitation will be between the hours of 9 and 10 a.m. today at Barnes Family Funeral Home.
