Born April 21, 1921, in Ava Fronas Vernita Clem, 85, Springfield, died at 4:31 a.m. June 29, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
She was born April 21, 1921, in Ava, the daughter of Jack and Lillie Chamberlain.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 3, at Greenlawn North Funeral Home in Springfield. Burial was in Springfield National Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Clem, and a son, Dennis Goforth.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Nyal Goforth and wife, Gracie, Pauline Thompson and husband, Charles, Katherine Arbuckle and husband, Ronnie; a daughter-in-law, Dianna Goforth; a sister, Edith McCleary; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a longtime companion, Gus Compton; as well as a host of other friends and family.
