Helen Mae Stadler, 95

A resident of the Ava area since 1972 Helen Mae Stadler, daughter of George Ingraham and Frieda (Ernst) Ingraham, was born May 1, 1911, in Aurora, Ill.

Helen departed this life on June l, 2006, in St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, at the age of 95.

Helen was a resident of the Ava area since 1972, moving here from Aurora, Ill. Helen was employed as a store manager of a children’s store before retirement.

On Oct. 26, 1929, Helen and Edward Stadler were united in marriage in Aurora, Ill., at the United Presbyterian Church. To this marriage one son, Edward (Boots) Stadler Jr., was born on Feb. 27, 1931. Helen was a member of the Ava General Baptist Church.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, in 1975. Also preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers, George and Gilbert Ingraham, three sisters, Mildred Bitterman, Alice Lantz and Marie Matile.

Helen is survived by her son, Edward “Boots” Stadler Jr. and his wife, Martha, Ozark; three grandchildren, Betsy and Rodger Smith, Conway, Ark., Jim and Donna Huffman, Ozark, Brenda Turner, Ava; eight great-grandchildren, David and Benjamin Smith, Ryan and Nikki Smith, all of Conway, Ark., Casey and Jeremy Barclay, Topeka, Kan., Lacey and Ron Wallace, Lebanon, Brad and Starr Huffman of Billings, Kristen Huffman, Peoria, Ill., Catlin Turner, Ava; 10 great-great-grandchildren, Taylor, Stephen, Cody, Caley, Alyssa and Makynna Wallace, Lebanon, Chase and Brenner Barclay, Tavian and Dillon Smith of Conway, Ark.; two sisters, Shirley and husband, Gerald Holzhueter, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Barbara Miller, Aurora, Ill.; one brother, Eugene and wife, Dorothy Ingraham, Aurora, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Lillian Ingraham of Colorado; one brother-in-law, John Matile of Montgomery, Ill., and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Graveside service was held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 5, in Riverside Cemetery, Aurora, Ill., preceded by a visitation at 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at The Healy Chapel, Aurora, Ill., with Rev. Ron Wallace officiating.

A local visitation was held Saturday, June 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, with the Revs. Ron Wallace and Oren Alcorn officiating.

Services are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, and The Healy Chapel, Aurora, Ill. Memorials may be made to Ava General Baptist Church or Ava United Methodist Church.
