Virginia L. Box, 80

Formerly of Cabool Virginia Lehe Box, 80 of Ava, and formerly of Cabool, passed from this life on May 18, 2006, at St. John’s Hospital, in Springfield. She was born on March 28, 1926, in Cabool, the daughter of Ed and Molly (Roberts) Johnson. She was the baby of seven children.

Born, raised and baptized in Cabool, Virginia moved, married and raised seven children. Upon retirement, she moved back to Cabool where she met and married Robert Box of Ava.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and four of her siblings, Dorothy Smith, Wayne Johnson, Jack Johnson and Mildred Rogers.

She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Box; a brother, Leonard Johnson of Springfield; a sister, Myrtle Burkdoll of Cabool; children, Jeannie Bentley of Lynwood, Wash., Dora Barnetti of Lebanon, Robert L. Spradling, Jr of Bucyrus, Kan., Bryan D. Spradling of Bucyrus, Kan., Nanette Burge of Gallatin, Brent D. Spradling of Louisburg, Kan., Jac B. Spradling of LaCygre, Kan., and Michael J. Box of Ava; 27 grandchildren, Tia, Jeffrey, Amy, Molly, Jessie, Chelsea, Dallas, Bryan Jr., Katie, Brianna, Jacob, Candi, Chanel, Duke, Maria, Alexandra, Mattie, Brent Jr., Blake, Jason, Jared, Jacqueline, Jac, Shelby, Adam, Sarah and Aaron; 12 great-grandchildren, Virginia Lehe (namesake), Kevin, Monte, Kendra, Clayden, Jackson, Daniel, Kaden, Liberty, Aurora, Chloe and Emmy.

Virginia had a beautiful alto voice and sang in many choirs and groups, including Billy Graham’s choir. She loved to entertain and show her love by cooking. She loved candles, gospel music, jewelry, flowers and shopping. Her children and grandchildren were the loves of her life.

Services were at 2 p.m., Monday, May 22, in the funeral chapel with the Rev. Robert Roberts officiating. Burial was in the Cabool Cemetery under the direction of the Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool.
