A resident of Gainesville Kevin Scott Reed, the son of John H. Reed and Peggy Lou (Proctor) Reed, was born July 16, 1958, in Springfield. He departed this life May 22, 2006, at the age of 47.
Kevin was a resident of Gainesville, for the past two years, moving from Ava where he had been a resident for most of his life. Kevin graduated from Ava High School in 1976. Following High School he started his truck driving career working for Heath and Sons. Kevin was an over-the-road truck driver and drove cattle trucks most of his adult life.
On June 17, 1978, Kevin and Debbie Beason were married and to this union a son, John Brandon Reed, was born. Later divorcing, Kevin married Brenda (Pierson) Frye on March l, 1985, and to this union another son was born, Justin Scott Reed.
Kevin loved to hunt and fish, and he was a good musician and an excellent square dancer. Most of all he loved his children and grandchildren.
Kevin was preceded in death by his father, John Henry Reed.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Peggy and Leo Litwiller, of Taneyville, a son and daughter-in-law, Brandon and Summar Reed, and a son Justin Reed, two grandsons, Gavin and Blake Reed, all of Ava, a brother and sister-in-law, Johnnie and Debbie Reed, of Simpson, Kan.; a sister and brother-in-law, Shellia and Melvin Braden of Taneyville, and a sister, Kristie Glenn, of Bergman, Ark.; a special friend, Missy (Usrey) Kennedy, Gainesville; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 26, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Revs. Gary Stigall and Max Stephens officiating. Interment will follow in the Ava Cemetery.
Visitation will be today (Thursday) from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family as a love offering. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
