Born on Nov. 26, 1927 in the Frye community of Squires Bobby G. Burton, 78, of Kewanee, Ill., died at 4:15 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2006, at Kewanee Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 26, at the Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Rev. Ronald Toliver will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens, Kewanee, Ill. Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Mr. Burton was born on Nov. 26, 1927 in the Frye community of Squires, Mo., the son of George and Ole (Frye) Burton. He married Mary Billingsly on Nov. 27, 1948, in Missouri. She preceded him in death on July 5, 1998.
He is survived by two sons, Bobby R. (Ardith) Burton of Atkinson, Ill., Carl Burton, of Kewanee, Ill.; two daughters, Brenda (Marlin) Tucker, of Squires, and Carol (Darryl) Funk, of Huntsville, Ark.; six grandchildren, Gary Williams, Jason Burton, Reece Randall, Rex Randall, Amy Burgard and Michelle Burton; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Roy Burton, of Ava; and one sister, Aileen Heimeyer, of San Francisco, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ray and Jack, and three sisters, Susie McGill, Mary Jordan and Ada Burton.
Mr. Burton was engaged in farming all his life in the Kewanee and Annawan area. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and talking with people. He never met a stranger. This obituary may be viewed and private condolences left at www.ruxfuneralhome.com
