A resident of Ava for the past 35 years Joe Ann Spurlin, the daughter of Marion Lee Parsons and Dessie (Frye) Parsons, was born Sept 16, 1940, in Branson, and departed this life on May l0, 2006, at the age of 65 years 7 months and 24 days.
Joe Ann was a resident of Ava for the past 35 years, moving from Aurora, Ill.
On Feb. 6, 1960, Joe Ann and James “Jim” H. Spurlin were united in marriage in Aurora, Ill. Joe Ann and Jim were blessed with three children.
Joe Ann was employed as an L.P.N. for 18 years. She enjoyed going to church, crocheting, and spoiling her grandkids. She was a member of the Ava General Baptist Church.
Joe Ann was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Jim, of the home, Ava; one daughter, Jill Olson and husband, George, Springfield; two sons, Jeff Spurlin and wife, Kris, Ava, and Joe Spurlin and wife, Rhonda, Springfield; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter; one sister, Barbara Murray, Conway, Ark.; one brother, James Taber, Ava; a special friend, Joyce Clinkingbeard; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, May 13, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Oren Alcorn officiating. Interment will follow in the Ava Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 7 p.m.. in the funeral home. The family requests memorials be made to Community Hospice.
Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
