Born on Oct. 15, 1923 Marie Rose Rolfsmeyer, daughter of James Lloyd Lancaster and Marie Jeannette Diehl Lancaster, was born on Oct. 15, 1923, in St. Louis, and departed this life on April 26, 2006, in Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava, at the age of 82 years, 6 months and 11 days.
Marie was a resident of the Ava community for the past 2 1/2 years.
She had lived and worked most of her life in the Wentzville and St. Louis area. She was a retired telephone operator for Southwestern Bell for many years. She also worked for the defense plant and was a cook for Thornberrys in Wentzville.
On May 15, 1946, Marie and Harry Rolfsmeyer were united in marriage in St. Louis and to this union four children were born. Marie was a Christian and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in St. Louis.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harry in 1994, and a son, Charles Robert.
She is survived by three children, Harry James “Butch” Rolfsmeyer, Ava, Debra Jeanne Schnyder, St. Peters, and James Robert “Jim” Rolfsmeyer, Wentzville; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, James Robert Lancaster, Fort Myers, Fla.; and a host of relatives and friends.
Graveside service was held Friday, April 28, at 1 p.m., in the Eternal Peace Cemetery, Wentzville, with the Rev. Max Hemmela officiating. Services were under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
