Jerry Donald (Donnie) Evans, 51

Born in Gainesville on June 29,1954 Donnie Evans was born in Gainesville on June the 29, 1954, one of nine children born to Orville and Norma Hathcock Evans, and departed this life at the home of his son, Levi, south of Gentryville on April 29, 2006 at the age of 51.

Donnie graduated from Gainesville High School and married Patricia Dianne Lee on June 12, 1976, at the bride’s parent’s home at Gentryville. They later divorced. Donnie is the father of two children, a son, Levi Evans, and a daughter, Crystal Evans.

When able to work Donnie was an auto mechanic and in later years he loved fishing and hunting especially with hounds, running coyote dogs and beagles, and often entering field trials with both breeds. His favorite things however were playing with his grandchildren and playing and listening to bluegrass music.

Donnie is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Levi and Venice Evans, of Gentryville, and his daughter, Crystal Evans, of Bakersfield. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Adline, Whitney, and Hunter Evans, and Bently Adam Moody; five brothers and their wives, David and Delores Evans of Mtn. Grove, Bob and Wanda Evans of Mtn. Home, Ark., Jim and Regina Evans of Ava, Junior Evans of Tecumseh, and Larry and Rhonda Evans of Mtn. Home, Ark.; three sisters and their husbands, Linda and Junior McCrea of Houston, Annie Sloan of Mtn. Grove, and Fern and Francis Robertson of Mtn. Grove; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Donnie was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Jerry (Donnie) Evans were Tuesday, May 2, at 10 a.m. in Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava. Memorial contributions may be made to Children’s Mercy Hospital of Kansas City in care of the funeral home. Services were conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
