Thomas Etsel Marsh, 95

Son of Samuel Peter Marsh and Nola Melton Marsh Thomas Etsel Marsh, son of Samuel Peter Marsh and Nola Melton Marsh, was born on January 31, 1911, in Pondfork, Mo., in Ozark County, and departed this life on April 12, 2006, in his home in Ava at the age of 95 years, 2 months and 11 days.

Thomas grew up in Ozark County. He was a resident of Ava since 1976 moving from Silverton, Ore. He was a civilian warehouseman employee for the U.S. Army in Tracy, Calif., for 25 years and resided in Modesto, Calif.

On April 18, 1940, Thomas and Nora Alice Gladden were united in marriage in Lutie, Mo., and to this union one son was born. After their marriage, Thomas and his wife moved to Arizona, and returned to Missouri in 1943. They then moved to California in 1944 to work for the U.S. Army.

Thomas was a member of the Longrun General Baptist Church. He loved to garden and was known in the area for his tomatoes. He was a loving devoted husband and father.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, five sisters and his wife, Nora Alice, on Jan. 8, 2005.

Thomas is survived by one son, Ronald “Ron” Marsh, Ava; one brother, Sterlin Marsh, Prosser, Wash.; and one sister, Oveta Wolfe, Troy, Mo.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held Saturday, April 15, from 2 to 3 p.m.. at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with a private burial ceremony in the Ava Cemetery with Rev. Tom Johnson officiating.

Memorials can be made to the Welch and Marsh Families Cemetery in Ozark County in care of Dora Jo Simpson, Theodosia, Mo.
