A resident of the Ava community for several years Leonard Winger was born on May 24, 1928, in the state of Iowa, and departed this life on April 8, 2006, in Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center, Ava, at the age of 77 years, 10 months and 14 days.
Leonard was a resident of the Ava community for several years.
He was a veteran and served his country with the U.S. Army, and was a member of the Eagles Lodge. He had worked as a custodian at the Ava Public Schools and also at one time owned a restaurant and a small engine repairman shop.
Leonard loved playing cards, cooking, collecting cookbooks, reading and raising a garden. He was a friend to his neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Donald and a daughter, Linda.
His survivors include a son and other relatives and friends.
Cremation services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
