Lonnie Denney, 67

Born on Jan. 30, 1939, in Ava Lonnie Denney, son of Benjamin Franklin Denney and Ethel Cox Denney, was born on Jan. 30, 1939, in Ava, and passed away on Feb. 11, 2006, in Hartville, at the age of 67 years.

Lonnie grew up in the Ava area. He lived in Oklahoma for years and moved back to this area and resided in Hartville for two years where he had a small farm. Lonnie was a retired construction worker. He was a Christian.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Franklin Denney and Ethel Denney Hartley, one grandson, Matthew Adkins and one sister, Anna Lee Cornelson.

His survivors include one daughter, Carolyn Adkins and husband, Rocky, of Warsaw; three grandchildren, Rocky and Raquel Adkins both of Warsaw, and Jessica Adkins of Sedalia; one great-granddaughter, Madisyn Mabrey of Sedalia; two brothers, Ben and Sherman Denney, both of Ava; three sisters, Ruth Shumate and Ruby Graham, both of Ava, and Loetta Dugan of Lebanon; his ex-wife, Lura Denney, of Lebanon; good friends, Roy Dean Wilson and Mark Rice of Oklahoma, and Brian Fleming of Arkansas, good neighbors, the Hightower family and the Cantrell family, and many other relatives and friends.

Services were held Wednesday Feb. 15, at 2 p.m. at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Tom Johnson officiating.

Memorials can be made to the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Tulsa, Okla., in care of the funeral home.
