Born Oct. 28, 1948, in Ozark County, Mo. Dallas Herd, 57, of Wapato, Wash., went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 23, 2006.
He was born Oct. 28, 1948, in Ozark County, Mo., to Sherman and Hazel Herd. Dallas served in the U.S. Marine Corps 1968 through 1970. He married Stephanie Elaine Beuers and in 1970 moved to Yakima, Wash.
Some of his hobbies included motorcycle riding, hunting with his dad and spending time as a mechanic in the woods. Some of his more important ones were spending time with his family, children and grandchildren. He retired as transportation director from Lake Washington School District.
Survivors include his mother, Hazel Herd, of Wapato, Wash.; a brother, Dean and his wife, Sue Herd, of Wapato, Wash.; a son, Shannon and his wife, Dawn Herd, of Wenatchee, Wash.; a daughter, Charlotte and her husband, Chris Wood, of Astoria, Ore.; grandchildren Brittny Herd, Tanner Herd, Summer Herd and Shae Wood; a nephew, Heath (Angela) Herd; a niece Risa (Ben) Stollerblack; and many loving family members.
Visitation was held on Friday, Jan. 27, from 4 p.m., and Sunday, Jan. 29, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Keith & Keith Funeral Home, Yakima, Wash. Burial was at Reservation Community Memorial Park in Wapato, Wash., on Monday, Jan. 30, at 10:30 a.m. Memorial services were held at noon on Monday, Jan. 30, at Open Bible Christian Center, Yakima, Wash.
