Born Nov. 18, 1947 in Goodhope Lawrence Clifton Hampton, the son of Clifton Etcyl Hampton and Althea R. (Tindle) Hampton, was born Nov. 18, 1947 in Goodhope, and departed this life Jan. 25, 2006 at the age of 58.
Lawrence was raised in the Goodhope community and was a resident of Sparta for several years. He was formerly employed with Hagales, Rawlings and Zenith. He enjoyed playing cards, spending time with his dog, Sissy, and he also loved hunting and fishing and most of all being with his family. Lawrence was a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church of Sparta.
On Nov. 4, 1990 Lawrence Hampton and Connie Crumm Harris were united in marriage in Oldfield.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his father, a brother, Roger, and three grandsons, Tyler, Daniel and Derrick.
He is survived by his wife, Connie of the home; his mother, Althea Hampton, Ava; four children and their spouses, Anthony Shockey and Lisa, St. Joe, Ark., Ginger Chaney, Blue Eye, Lora Rains and Bill, Highlandville, LaVina Stacy and Johnathan, Berryville, Ark.; two stepsons, Michael Harris, stationed in Washington, and Lynn Harris, Branson; his siblings, Raymond Hampton and Peggy, Janet Watkins and AB, Denny Hampton and Becky, Judy Goodson and John, all of Sparta, Becky Davis and Donnie, Ozark, Jeff Hampton and Sheila, Oldfield and Tina Trent and Ronnie, Ava and many nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 28, at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Revs. Gilbert Spencer and Don Graham officiating. Interment was in the Goodhope Cemetery.
