Services were held in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home Doris M. Homeister, 88, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006, at Woodland Manor, Springfield.
Doris was born Jan. 14, 1918, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, to Elam and Annis (Bush) Hill. She married Donald Young on January 14, 1939 in Waverly, Iowa. They later divorced. Doris married Alfred Zabel on June 6, 1948. Alfred died on Nov. 7, 1956. Doris married Loranz Homeister on May 12, 1957, in Waverly, Iowa. Loranz died February l, 2000.
One of Doris’ favorite things to do was make quilts for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Those quilts will be cherished for life.
Besides Alfred and Loranz, Doris was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Harold and Arthur Hill and three sisters, Mabel Juel, Iva Bennett, Helen Miller and two grandchildren, Dexter and Cedric Gaede.
Doris is survived by her sisters, Elizabeth Davis and Ruby Rand; brothers, Edwin and Walter Hill; four daughters, Lois Gaede of Fredricksburg, Iowa, Donna Manweiler of Sumner, Iowa, Arlene Boeddeker, Seymour, and Helen Fishbeck, Hannibal; three sons, David and William Homeister, both of Springfield, and Michael Homeister, Boise, Idaho; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Ava. A second serivice was held at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 23, in the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, Iowa, with interment following in the Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Cedar Falls, Iowa.
