Born in Ava, Mo., on Sept. 1, 1924 Amy Ratha Vreeland, 81, passed away after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer, on Monday, Jan. 9, 2006. Amy was born in Ava, Mo., on Sept. 1, 1924, to Frank and Macie (Powers) Sanders. She retired from Sears after 35 years. She was a member of the Lincoln Lutheran Harmony Club, and a past president of the Ladies Elks in California.
Amy is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Debbie (Bruce) Rapoza, of Racine, Wisc., and Patricia A. Campbell, of Portland, Ore.; five grandchildren, Karl Rapoza, Mike Sanders, Daina (Jose) Bravo, Gary Rapoza, and John (Michelle) Campbell; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leonard Sanders and Murl (Pat) Sanders; one sister, Verna Mae Moses; and a sister-in-law, Georgie Sanders. Amy is further survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Troy Sanders.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, in Gainesville, with burial in Sims Cemetery, Gainesville.
