Daughter of David and Terinda (Everett) Hampton and Mike Hampton of Ava Mandy Marlene Hampton was born Feb. 13, 1988, in Springfield, and departed this life Dec. 30, 2005 at the age of 17.
Mandy was the daughter of David and Terinda (Everett) Hampton and Mike Hampton of Ava.
Mandy was a lifelong resident of Ava, and a senior at Ava High School. Mandy attended Ava General Baptist Church and Highway Church of the Nazarene. She was very active in various clubs and loved and played all sports. She was the star of the basketball and volleyball teams.
Some of her sports accomplishments include: volleyball—1st team SCA all-conference 2004 and 2005 seasons, team MVP 2004 and 2005 seasons, 1st team all-district tournament 2004 and 2005 seasons; basketball—2004-2005 season 1st team SCA all-conference, 2004-2005 all-district basketball team, 2005, Christmas Classic at Lebanon all-tournament team, 2004 West Plains basketball Thanksgiving Tournament all-tournament team, 2004 and 2005 Lebanon Tournament all-tournament teams.
Her other school activities and accomplishments include: Student Council four years, National Honor Society, three years, A+ tutoring, Spanish Club two years, FCA, M-Pac, TREND, and FCCLA, one year. She served as a Pee Wee Basketball coach, Small Stars Volleyball coach, Pep Club Super Fan three years (chick original), and was a football Homecoming candidate in 2005.
Mandy also excelled and achieved many awards in clog dancing.
Mandy was preceded in death by her grandfather, Dorn Everett, and a nephew Michael Nelson.
She is survived by her parents David and Terinda Hampton and Mike Hampton, of Ava; brothers and sisters, Nick King, Tracy Nelson, Rex Hampton, Trampus Hampton, Lacy Hampton, Kelsey Hampton and Chelsey Barnum, all of Ava; her grandparents, Mabel Everett, Norma Bogart, Larry Hampton and Jeanne Huff, all of Ava, and Raymond Hampton, Sparta; nieces and nephews, Drake and Blake King, Jasper, Konner and Chandelyn Nelson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2, in the Ava High School Gym with Rev. Oren Alcorn, Rev. Buddy Boyd and Rev. Dwain Moore officiating. Interment followed in the Ava Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Mandy Hampton Scholarship Fund at Ava First Home Savings Bank of Ava or at the funeral home.
