David Michael Racobs, 53

David enjoyed visiting his sister’s home east of Ava David Michael Racobs, 53, of Sloan, Iowa, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005, of injuries suffered in an accident at the AGP Soybean Processing Plant in Port Neal, near Salix, Iowa.

Services were held at 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 23, at Wood Funeral Chapel in Sloan, Iowa. Burial was in the Sloan Cemetery.

David was born Feb. 14, 1952, in Onawa, Iowa, the son of Forrest William and Irene Joyce (Mercer) Racobs. He had been a resident of the Sloan area since 1966. He graduated from Westwood High School in 1970. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1970 to 1974 and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was employed as a boiler operator at the AGP Soybean Processing Plant in Port Neal for 30 years and 4 months. David enjoyed visiting his sister’s home east of Ava and hunting with the “gang” each November. He was an avid reader and movie buff.

Survivors include a brother, William “Bill” Burton Racobs of Castana, Iowa; a sister, Judith Elaine and Ransell Hutchison, of Norwood, Mo.; two nephews, Michael Wayne Racobs and Mark Andrew Racobs; three nieces, Kelly Leon Racobs, and Ronelle and Danny Carzoli and Lisa Gay England.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece, Seri Ann Hutchison in 1996.
