Ailene Adams, 78

Born July 15, 1927, in Brown Branch Margaret Ailene Adams, daughter of James Arthur Cunningham and Della Melinda (Hicks) Cunningham, was born July 15, 1927, in Brown Branch, and departed this life Dec. 27, 2005 at the age of 78.

Ailene was a resident of the area since 1955, moving here from Springfield. Ailene was post mistress and operated the general store at McClurg until its closing. On March 24, 1955, Ailene and Lester Adams were united in marriage in Ozark.

Ailene enjoyed hosting the Monday night music party at McClurg for 20 years, loved cooking and gardening and giving to others. She was a member the Bethel Church.

Ailene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lester, one son, Charles Dwyer and grandson Chuck Adams, one brother Gerald Cunningham, and one sister, Lavera Nelson.

Ailene is survived by grandson, Bryon Johnson, Springfield; two step-grandchildren, Shelly and Travis Stamper, Norwood; a long time friend, Lonnie Taber; one sister, Betty DeBoy, Springfield; a half brother, Charles Caldwell Yakima, Wash.; a niece, Sue Carlin; a nephew Ronald Caldwell; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services were at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Randy Dalton officiating. Interment followed in the Bethel Cemetery.
