Virgil Lowell Adams, 84

Born Aug. 23, 1921, in McClurg Virgil Lowell Adams, the son of Luther Adams and Mary (Baird) Adams, was born Aug. 23, 1921, in McClurg, and departed this life Dec. 28, 2005, at the age of 84.

Virgil was a lifelong resident of the McClurg community. He served his country during World War II with the U.S. Army.

On Oct. 10, 1942, Virgil and Pauline Southards were united in marriage in Selah, Wash. Virgil and Pauline were blessed with six children.

Virgil was employed with the U.S. Forest Service, Fasco Industries and in farming. He enjoyed gardening, riding his four-wheeler, hunting and being with all of his family. Virgil was saved and later baptized in 1999 by Floyd Roberts.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Kenneth and Lester, and a sister, Betty.

Virgil is survived by his wife of 63 years, Pauline; six children and their spouses, Shirley and John Scisciani, Nixa, Darrell and Beverly Adams, Springfield, Kenny and Evelyn Adams, Ava, Jackie and Gail Adams, Bradleyville, Steve and Jenny Adams, Ava, Sherry and Jr. (Mike) Twenter, Lamar; 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two on the way; one brother, Neal Adams, McClurg; several nieces and nephews; and several cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava with the Revs. John Lee Comer and Riley Hall officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
