Born March 6, 1923, at Ava Reba Maxine (Hamby) Hobbs, 82, Springfield, departed from this life at 10:53 a.m. Dec. 17, 2005, in St. John’s Hospital.
She was born March 6, 1923, at Ava, the daughter of Earnest (E.H.) and Edith (Robertson) Hamby. Reba married Louis Glenn Hobbs on March 7, 1942, and to this union three children were born. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene and a faithful follower of Christ.
She moved to the Springfield area in 1956, where she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Reba was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Glenn Hobbs; her parents; three brothers, Ray, Rex and Russell; and one sister, Remah Hamby.
Survivors include a son, Bill and spouse, Linda, of Springfield; two daughters, Glenda Sue and spouse, Gordon Elliott, of Springfield and Jana and spouse, Roger Copeland, of Willard; nine grandchildren, Todd and Andrea Elliott, Tara and spouse, Jeff Ford, Rob and spouse, Shannon Hobbs, Suzie and spouse, Curt Ringgold, Shawna and spouse, Shaun Wirth, Carisa and spouse, Mark Long, Ashley Hughes, and Erin and Brandi Copeland; 14 great-grandchildren, Erica and Alex Elliott, Colin Caples, Dalton, Kaitlyn, Denton and Drake Ford, Brianna Hobbs, Kayla and Jacob Winter, Trey Ringgold, Rachel and Wyatt Wirth, and Madison Long; one sister, Reta Watterson, of Mansfield; one brother, Ronald and spouse, Phyllis Hamby, of West Plains; one sister-in-law, Amy Hobbs, of Ava; many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, in Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, Springfield. Burial was in Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
