Born Aug. 8, 1927, in Ava Calvin Reed Lafferty, 78, of Princeton, Iowa, formerly of DeWitt, Iowa, died Thursday evening, Nov. 17, 2005, at Genesis Medical Center, Davenport, Iowa.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, at Nelson Funeral Home in DeWitt. Burial was in Davenport Memorial Park.
The Rev. Larry Pruitt of God’s Family Baptist Church, Grand Mound, Iowa, officiated.
Calvin was born Aug. 8, 1927, in Ava, the son of George and Stella (Pruitt) Lafferty. He was united in marriage to Dorothy (Williams) Lafferty on July 3, 1948, in Ava.
Mr. Lafferty was a supervisor in the Donohoo Steel Heat Treating Plant, in Bettendorf, Iowa, for 33 years, until his retirement in 1987.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Dorothy; his five children, Margaret (Marion) Pinter, Princeton, Iowa, Joyce (Stephen) Pinter, Bettendorf, Iowa, Linda (Dennis) Maynard, Princeton, Iowa, Ronald (Rhonda) Lafferty, Black River Falls, Wisc., and Michael Lafferty, of Florida; two sisters, Wilma Jean (Kinny) Kesterson, Springfield, and Oatie Muse, Nixa; a sister-in-law, Lucille Lafferty, Springfield; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and Toots, his friend and companion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
