Born on Nov. 14, 1962 Douglas Wayne Porter, son of Carlos Pat Porter and Melba Louise (Lakey) Porter was born on Nov. 14, 1962 in Springfield, and passed away on Dec. 15, 2005 in Ava, at the age of 43 years.
Doug was a life long resident of Douglas County. He worked in many different occupations, some of which included farming, operating heavy equipment and the Missouri Conservation Department. He was also involved with the hurricane cleanup efforts. Doug was saved at Brushyknob Church and baptized at Vera Cruz in 2000. Doug loved his family very much and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, helping children and visiting with family and friends. He enjoyed listening to music and reading the Bible. Doug always requested prayer for himself and his family.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents and one niece, Autumn Louise.
He is survived by three brothers, Dennis Porter, Ava, Doy Porter, Ava, David Porter, Squires, two sisters, Diane Cheyney and Danita Porter both of Ava; nieces and nephews, Travis, Dillon and Danielle Cheyney, Miya Frye and great-niece Autum, Kiya Head, Lauren and Cole Porter, Kasha Porter, Shannon and Austin Porter, and many other relatives and friends.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 19, at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Revs. Danny Douglas and Eddie Bray officiating. Interment followed in the Ava Cemetery. The family requests memorials to be given to Gideons International or Brushyknob Church Building Fund.
