Born Sept.30, 1916 at Rockbridge Alpha Roberta Nelson, 89, the fourth daughter of George Price and Minnie (Kastening) Price was born Sept.30, 1916 at Rockbridge, Mo. Surrounded by her family, Alpha went home to be with her Lord on Dec. 13, 2005.
Alpha was a life long resident of the area. On July 19, 1947 Alpha and Otto Nelson were united in marriage in Ava. Alpha and Otto were blessed with a daughter. Alpha was employed at the drug store as a clerk for many years. She enjoyed visiting with friends, family and neighbors. Alpha was a member of the Ava General Baptist Church.
Alpha was preceded in death by her husband, Otto in l973. Also preceding in death were her parents, four sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by her daughter, Janice and husband, Bill Chainey, Richmond, Mo.; three grandchildren, Tim Chainey, Rogersville, Brian and Connie Chainey, Springfield, and Stacy and Steve Hatfield, Clever; six great-grandchildren, Shelli Jo, Colton, Emily, Jelena, Josh, and Jeremy; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Oren Alcorn and Father Glen Dale Hartley officiating. Interment was in the Ava Cemetery.
