In 1954 they moved to Ava Naomi Medora (Beall) “Nimie” Heigham, daughter of Howard Lee Beall and Medora Florence (Heinemyer) Beall, was born on May 22, 1914, in Baltimore, Md., and went to her heavenly home on Nov. 7, 2005, at 6:30 a.m. She was 91 years old.
She moved to Silver Hill, Md. at age 7. She was joined in marriage to Llewellyn “Lew” Maitland Heigham on Nov. 4, 1932, in Oxon Hill, Md., and then moved to Tempe Hill, Md. They had two children.
In 1954 they moved to Ava, where they lived happily for many years. “Nimie” also volunteered at the Chastains Nursing Home in Ava for over 20 years, leading a discussion group and writing letters for the residents. She and Lew were the Bell Makers from Back Acres for many years. Lew made his own models and poured while “Nimie” did all the painting by hand. They have bells all over the world. She also was a member of the Women’s Methodist Group.
She was a charter member of St. Francis Anglican Church of Ava where she and Father Lew spent many happy hours with their friends. She and Fr. Lew moved to Marshfield in 2001 to live with their daughter and her husband, Nickie and Norman Jones. There she resided until her heavenly passing after a short stay in the hospital.
“Nimie” was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fr. Lew in 2004, one sister, Juanita Pyles, and a granddaughter, Twana Lee Jones.
Her survivors include one son and wife, Llewellyn M. Heigham Jr. and Ella Jean, of St. Louis; and one daughter and husband, Nickie and Norman Jones, of Marshfield; seven grandchildren, Nikki Chaffin, David Jones, John Paul Jones, Paula English, Angela Gillis, Juanita Heigham and Llewellyn Heigham III; 10 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and many friends and loved ones.
Memorial services will be Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 11 a.m. at the St. Francis Anglican Church in Ava, with the Father Glen Hartley officiating. Her body was gifted to the University of Missouri Medical Center, Columbia.
