Son of Leslie Turner Dye and Ora Mae (Knight) Dye Mike Dye, the son of Leslie Turner Dye and Ora Mae (Knight) Dye, was born Feb. 7, 1934, in Red Oak, Okla., and departed this life Oct. 13, 2005, at the age of 71.
Mike was a resident of Brushy Knob for the past 38 years moving here from Oklahoma. He was employed at Spalding for several years and was a beef farmer. Mike enjoyed hunting and fishing and raising coon dogs.
Mike and Dorothy Brown were united in marriage on Nov. 12, 1954, in Bakersfield, Calif. They were blessed with eight children.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, and one daughter, Sarah Lynne.
His survivors include his wife, Dorothy of the home, Brushy Knob; three sons, Tom Dye, Springfield, Randy Dye, Sheridan, Ark., and Leslie Dye and Diane, Nixa; four daughters, Shirley Dye, Brushy Knob, Beverly Henson and Gary, Cape Hatteras, N.C., Betty Dye and Susie Cook and Lonnie all of Brushy Knob; eight grandchildren; three brothers, L.T. Dye and Audrey of Arizona, Jim and Alma Dye of California, and Darrell and Gabby Dye of Kansas; one sister, Dorothy and Robert Baker, of California; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside service was at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17 in the Brushy Knob Cemetery with the Rev Oscar Cunningham officiating. Visitation was held Sunday in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, which was in charge of arrangements and services.
Memorials may be to the Gideons International or Children’s Hospital in Kansas City.
