Lois E. Hicks, 91, entered into peaceful rest on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, at home with her family by her side. She was born June 17, 1914, in Squires, the daughter of Samuel and Olive Thompson Scott. She married Earl Hicks Nov. 30, 1937.
Lois loved being a mother to her children and grandchildren often times cooking huge meals for them and their spouses and grandchildren so they could all get together and visit and play their guitars and sing.
Lois is now with her Lord and Savior and is no longer suffering. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and all who knew her.
She is survived by her sons Scott (Ruth), Blaine (Brenda), Jason (Donna) and one daughter Carol McCarter, all of Rochelle, Ill.; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; one niece, Pamela (Bill) McDermott, of Kansas City; one nephew, Allen Rippee, of West Plains.
She was preceded in death by Earl; her parents; one brother, Blaine Scott; one sister, Edith Rippee; and an infant daughter Diane (Scott’s twin), and grandson, Gregory.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 3, at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to services at Harvest Baptist Church in Hillcrest, Ill. Pastor James Adcock and the Rev. Keith Manly officiated. Burial was at Trinity Memory Gardens. Funeral arrangements were made by Coulon-Lyons Family Funeral Home.
