Ina (Burris) Rogers, 94

Ina was born Jan. 24, 1911, to James Wesley and Anna (Andrews) Burris in Ava. Ina (Burris) Rogers entered into rest peacefully, Sept. 26, 2005, surrounded by her family at the Hospice Chaplaincy in Kennewick, Wash.

Ina was born Jan. 24, 1911, to James Wesley and Anna (Andrews) Burris in Ava. She was 94 years old.

She lived in Douglas County for 88 years. She and her husband, Edgar, were married Dec. 3, 1945. They owned and operated a dairy farm until they retired in 1972. Ina enjoyed her life in Missouri. Edgar and Ina worked side by side clearing their land with broad axes. Over the years they expanded their farm into a dairy operation. In the 1950′s they built a new home with timber from their land.

She loved her life on the farm.

After the death of her husband of 57 years she moved to Kennewick, Wash., to be close to her daughters. She enjoyed her time in Washington but always longed for her home in Ava. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, embroidering, crocheting and preserving fruits and vegetables from her garden. She had a quick wit and a sharp pen. She wrote many poems and stories for the Douglas County Herald. She loved to talk and share her stories with friends and family.

Ina is preceded in death by her parents, husband, stepson, two sons-in-law, a grandson, six sisters and four brothers.

Ina has two daughters, Alice (Stanifer) Reser and Margaret (Stanifer) Reser both of Kennewick, Wash., and one stepson, William Rogers (deceased). Her grandchildren and spouses are: Leroy (deceased) and Laberta Reser, Jack and Frances Reser, Mike and Donna (Reser) Smith, Rick and Lori Reser and Ron and Brenda (Reser) Bennett; step- grandchildren, Bob and Cindy (Rogers) Adkisson, Ron and Debbie Rogers, Mike and Terri Rogers and Daphanie Rogers; great-grandchildren, Bob, Richard, Ronnie, April and Allen Reser, Cameron Bennett, Tracey and Michael Smith; step-great-grandchildren, Josh, Jesse, Jeff and Estacia Rogers, Melissa Dodge and Casey Delp; great-great grandchildren, Brittany, Richie, Andrew, Shasta and Keenan Reser, Seth Florman; step-great-great grandchildren, Rebekah and Abby Rogers, and Isaac Dodge.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including her favorite nieces, Lula Lakey, and Laverne Walker and her husband, Raymond, who have been a special part of her life.

Services will be held Friday, Sept. 30, at 10 a.m., at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Raymond Haden officiating. Visitation will be today (Thursday) from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Ava Cemetery.
