Karen Chronister, daughter of Richard Lee “Dick” Gastineau and Margaret Lois McHolland Gastineau, was born on Nov. 20, 1947, in Springfield, and departed this life on July 14, 2005, in Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, at the age of 57.
Karen was a lifelong resident of the Ava area.
On Dec. 30, 1972, Karen and Buddy Chronister were united in marriage in Ava. Karen loved to sew, create stained glass and quilt. She enjoyed all handcrafts, doing yard work, growing flowers and visiting with folks.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Buddy, of the home, Ava; one brother, Lyle Gastineau, Lawrenceburg, Ind.; two nephews, Scott and Steven Gastineau; her mother-in-law, Edna Scott, Sparta; one brother-in-law and wife, Bob and Gayle Chronister, Ozark; two sisters-in-law and husbands, Sandra and Ervin Maggard, Ozark, and Sharon Kay and Glen Maggard, Sparta; lifelong friends, Janice Frye and Linda Watts, and other relatives and friends.
Services were held Monday, July 18, at 10 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Revs. Oren Alcorn and John Haskins officiating. Interment followed in the Ava Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
