James Hobson was born March 31, 1929, the son of James Hobson and Necia (Jones) Hobson, in Memphis, Tenn., and departed this life on June 30, 2005, in Ava, at the age of 76.
Jim was a resident of the Ava area since 1998, moving here from Colorado. Jim served his country with the U.S. Navy.
Jim’s passion was writing and he aspired to be a published author. He also enjoyed music and movies of all types. He was meticulous and all his hobbies showed his quest for perfection.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and two sons, Christopher and Jimmy.
Jim is survived by two daughters, Debora Slabaugh and husband, Darrell, of Dallas, Texas, and Victoria Newell, Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sons, Joe Hobson, Davenport, Iowa, and Blaine Hobson, Texarkana, Texas; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Cremation service is under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava. Memorials may be made to Community Hospice, of Mtn. Grove.
