Elizabeth Darlene Smith, the daughter of Leon Arthur Gould and Alice Eugenia (Anderson) Gould, was born May 19, 1915, in Bemidji, Minn., and departed this life May 17, 2005, at the age of 89 years.
On June 20, 1937, Elizabeth and Alexander Martin Smith were united in marriage in Bemidji, Minn., and to this union three children were born. Elizabeth was a homemaker and farmer. Elizabeth has been a resident of the Ava area since 1937. She is also a member of Church of Christ (Temple Lot).
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and sisters, one infant son, and her husband, Alexander.
She is survived by one son, Verl Smith; and a daughter, Estella Smith, both of Ava; three grandchildren, AdriAnn Smith, Jason Smith, David Davis; four great-grandchildren, Chloe McKee, Bailey, Troy and Eli Smith; two sisters, Helen Taubert, Milwaukee, Wisc., Amy Schrader, Kansas City, Mo.; one brother, Don Gould, Bemidji, Minn.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside service will be Saturday, May 21, at 10 a.m., in the Dobbs Cemetery, with Elder Joe Smith officiating. Visitation will be Friday, 6-7 p.m., in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
