Voyne was born April 6, 1930, the son of Raymond and Hazel (McDaniel) Merritt, but was raised in the home of Horace and Hazel Hall, and departed this life April 22, 2005, at the age of 75 years.

Voyne was a resident of the Ava area for most of his life. He served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was a member of the V.F.W. in Ava.
Voyne and Charlene Dollarhide were united in marriage Aug. 14, 1954, in Ava, and to this union four daughters were born. Voyne owned and operated Merritt Auto Salvage for several years. He was very blessed with a great family and good friends. He loved fishing, playing cards, and Thursday night singing at the theatre.
Preceding Voyne in death were Horace and Hazel Hall; Raymond and Faye Merritt; one daughter, Virginia; one brother, Jackie; and a sister, Vernita.
He is survived by his wife, Charlene, of the home in Ava; three daughters, Vicky Burnett, Ava, Sue Goin, Oldfied, and Verna Willhaus, Ava; five grandchildren, Travis and Melissa Burnett, Corey and Colby Goin, and Tyler Kelly; also five great-grandchildren, Colton and Coy Burnett, Haylan and Kelby Massey, and Allyson Goin; Voyne was also survived by four brothers, Verlin Hall, Mansfield, Dale Hall, Carl Hall, and Boyd Hall, all of Ava; five sisters, Juanita Shebiel, Patsy Dickens, Lora Kay Davis, all of Ava, Mary McCall, Republic, Diane Garrison, Springfield; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were held Monday, April 25, at 2 p.m., in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Wayne Pierson officiating. Interment was in the Dyer Cemetery. Military graveside service was provided by American Legion Post 112 and V.F.W. 5993.
