Walter Leamon Fleetwood, son of William Columbus and Mary Jane Cummins Fleetwood, was born Feb. 22, 1917, near Seymour, and departed this life Monday, April 4, 2005, in Strafford Care Center at the age of 88.
Walter lived most of his life in the Seymour/Ava area where he did farm labor. He was a member of the Pentecostal Lighthouse Church in Seymour. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, going to church and visiting with his friends and family.
He was united in marriage to Pauline Loretta Cantrell on Aug. 1, 1940, and to the union two daughters and one son were born. All the children preceded him in death in infancy. He was also preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, William, Claude, Clyde, and Homer Fleetwood; a half brother, Jess Cummins; three sisters, Ora Mae Easley, Opal Fleetwood Davidson, and Effie Mae Cox; five half sisters, Lou Fleetwood, Minnie Bell Rippee, Mary Jane Cummins, Rachel Plumb, and Sadie Davis.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline, of Strafford Care Center, Strafford, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews including his caregivers, Bro. Dale and Macel Cox and Jo and Bro. Bobby Simmons, Seymour.
Services were held Friday, April 8, at 2:30 p.m., in Holman-Howe Chapel, Seymour, with Bro. Gerald Allmon officiating. Burial was in the Hodge Cemetery southeast of Seymour.
