James Russell Hinote, 75

James Russell Hinote, son of Lawrence S. Hinote and Eva L. Wilson Hinote, was born on Oct. 26, 1929, in Douglas County, and passed away on April 3, 2005, in his home in Norwood, at the age of 75.

James was a lifelong resident of Norwood. He was a retired road construction worker.

On Sept. 23, 1951, James and Violet Pierson were united in marriage in Mtn. Home, Ark., and to this union two children were born. James was a Christian. He was a Navy veteran and served his country in the Korean War for two years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bee hunting, gardening and bluegrass music.

James was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Stanley Hinote.

He is survived by his wife, Violet Hinote, of the home in Norwood; two children, Portia Potter and husband, Donald, and Lannie Hinote, all of Norwood; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Jennings, Norwood; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Revs. Donald Potter, Scott Linton and Bud Scherer officiating. Interment was in the Oak Forest Cemetery near Norwood with full military honors by Douglas County American Legion Post 112 and VFW Post 5993.
