Francis E. (Bud) Miller, 76

Bud Miller was born the son of Paul and Georgia Chaffee Miller on Jan. 11, 1929, in Ben Davis, Mo., and departed this life in Springfield on April 2, 2005, at the age of 76.

Bud was always looking for new adventures in life, trying many hats and enjoying them all. He owned and operated his own tire shop, sold real estate, was airport manager at Ava airport for six years, was a private pilot, and an accomplished musician, playing big band music, and all his jobs were things he loved to do. Playing big band music, flying and taking people up and around Ava, and traveling in general.

Bud attended First General Baptist Church in Ava.

Bud and Ruth E. Smith were married in Michigan in 1949 and to this union four children were born. Ruth preceded him in death in 1988. In 1989 Bud met and married Peggy Allison who survives and lives in Ava. Also surviving are his sons, Steve and his wife, Carol Miller, North Port, Fla., Daniel and wife, Sofia Miller, Salisbury, N.C., David Miller and his fiancee, Karen Johnson, Branson; one daughter, Nancy and her husband, Steve Borner, Naples, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four stepchildren, Doug and wife, Camille Scott, Sycamore, Ill., Donald Scott, Chicago, Ill. Steve and wife, Kathy Scott, Knob Noster, and Kim and husband, Stan Humbyrd, of Ava; five step-grandchildren; and two sisters, Enola Grimstead and her husband, Bob, of Mtn. Home, Ark., and June Johnson, of Ava.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Ruth.

Memorial services for bud Miller were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Robert Roberts officiating and the eulogy by the family.
