Bernie Leta Sallee, the daughter of Etcyl Haskins and Ollie (Delp) Haskins, was born Nov. 7, 1911, in Isabella, Mo., and departed this life April 5, 2005, at the age of 93.
Bernie was a lifelong resident of Thornfield. On Dec. 26, 1928, Berrnie and Clarence Roosevelt Sallee were united in marriage at Foil, Mo., and to this union four children were born. She was a homemaker and worked on the farm and in the store with her husband all her working life. Bernie enjoyed quilting, tending her yard and making a big garden. She was a member of the Igo General Baptist Church.
Bernie was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, one sister, her daughter, Evelyn, and her husband, Clarence, who passed away in June 2003.
Bernie is survived by three daughters, Norma Griffith, Ava, Imogene Ewing, Lebanon, and Janiss Bryant and husband, Tom, of Conway; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren;seven step-great-grandchildren; two-step-great-great- grandchildren; one brother, John Haskins and wife, Naomi, Thornfield; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 8, in the Thornfield Chapel with the Revs. Oren Alcorn and Gaylon Turner officiating. Interment will be in Thornfield Cemetery.
Visitation was Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
Memorials may be made to the Thornfield Cemetery.
