Herbert Allen Wilson, son of William Henry Wilson and Nellie Viola Thompson Wilson, was born Oct. 27, 1907, in Squires, and passed away on March 20, 2005, in Ava, at the age of 97.
Herbert was a lifelong resident of the Squires community. He was a farmer. On Dec. 14, 1930, Herbert and Neta Brooks were united in marriage in Squires. She preceded him in death on Nov. 26, 1984. On Nov. 27, 1990, Herbert and Marie (Turner) Murrill were united in marriage in Thornfield. Herbert was a Christian and was baptized. He loved his whiteface cattle, working on his tractor and farm equipment, and visiting with his family and friends.
Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Neta in 1984, four brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Wilson, of the home in Squires; three stepdaughters, Wilda Rowe, Squires, Kathy Stout, Sparta, and Nancy Harper, Ava; 10 step-grandchildren; many step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Maudie Maylee, Zanesville, Ohio; a very special friend, Jessie Coy; a multitude of nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be held at 10 a.m., today (Thursday) at the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, with the Rev. Paul Welch officiating. Interment will be in the Murray Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association.
