Robert Clovis Fisher, 84

Bob Fisher was born on Jan. 23, 1921, in Iola, Kans., and passed away on March 9, 2005, in Sacramento, Calif., form complications of a stroke he suffered a few years ago.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Jean Fisher; his daughter, Cheryl Hronec, of Sacramento, Calif.; his sons, Daryl Fisher, and wife, Mary Lynn, of West Sacramento, Calif., and Greg Fisher, and wife, Kelly, of Sacramento, Calif.; his beloved grandchildren, Bryan, Marc, Eric, Carrie, Ty, Paul and Kyle; his sister-in-law, Marjorie Roper, and husband, Vance, of Springfield; his brother-in-law, Bill Cline, and wife, Linda, of Davis, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Zola Fisher, Sacramento, Calif.; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Glen and Adelaide Cline, of Ava.

Bob and Jean moved to West Sacramento, Calif., and started their family shortly after he returned from World War II, where he served for over three years in the Pacific with the 33rd Infantry Division, seeing military action in New Guinea and the Philippines.

Bob worked as an electrician for 39 years for the Southern Pacific Railroad before retiring in 1984. He was also very active in his electrician’s union and held a number of union offices over the years. After his retirement, he loved to travel up and down the state of California in his Winnebago, made numerous trips back to the Midwest to visit relatives, and he also enjoyed reading, camping, gambling at Lake Tahoe casinos, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a gentle and caring man who worked hard all his life and was dedicated to his wife and family. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

At Bob’s request, no funeral services will be held. His ashes will be scattered at his favorite campsite by his family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

Arrangements were handled by River Cities Funeral Chapel of West Sacramento under the direction of Jon Daniel.
