Eulah Turner Mitchell, 93

Eulah was one of ten children born to Alfred and Rosa Woods Turner in Ozark County on Sept. 2, 1911, and departed this life on March 12, 2005, at the age of 93 years.

Eulah spent her early years in the Thornfield community. She became a Christian at an early age. Eulah was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Ava. In 1937, she married Colin Payne, who preceded her in 1972. In 1980, while living in Washington she married Marshall Mitchell and acquired a large family, they later moved back to the Ava area, where Marshall preceded in 1994. Eulah loved her quilting and going with Mary to garage sales and kept fond memories of years on the West digging clams along the beach.

Eulah’s survivors include, four step-sons and their spouses, Verl and Laurena Mitchell, of McClurg, Harold and Mary Mitchell, Ava, Ross Mitchell, Springfield, and Darrell and Donetta Mitchell, Taneyville; three step-daughters and their spouses, Lula Belle and Norman Hale, Oldfield, Cathy Green, Ava, and Crystal and Billy Stacy, Oldfield; 25 step-grandchildren; several step great-grandchildren; three brothers, Coy Turner and Leslie Turner, of Thornfield, and Lynn Turner, Ellis, Kans.; and one sister, Viola Clark, of Olympia, Wash.

Eulah was preceded in death by her parents, two husband, three sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 16, 10 a.m., at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with Rev. Robert Roberts officiating. Interment was in the Bethel Cemetery.
