Ursula Luettgenau was born the daughter of Berned and Alma Brede Backhaus, in Gelsenkirchen-Buer, Germany, on Feb. 26, 1927, and departed this life on March 6, 2005, in her daughter’s home.
In January 1958, Ursula and Georg Luettgenau were united in marriage in Munich, Germany. Ursula was a devoted wife and mother, who gave selflessly as a German war nurse in World War II, and continued giving throughout her life. She loved her animals, cats particularly, as though they were her children, she was creative and expressed her creativity working with wool, weaving many a beautiful tapestry. She was also a fighter who gave all that she had in her struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease. We will all remember her strong spirit and feisty words with joy and reverence.
Ursula is survived by a son and his wife, Oliver and Rebekka Luettgenau, of Wasola area; two daughters, Michaela and her husband Ron Webb, of Ava, and Patricia Luettgenau, of San Pedro, Calif.; five grandchildren, Sara, Erik, Kati, David, and Megan Webb, all of Ava.
