Norma LaVern (Guthery) Duckworth was born Nov. 23, 1926, in Douglas County to George and Fay (Sanders) Guthery, and passed away on March 7, 2005, at the age of 78.
Norma and Norman Duckworth were united in marriage on March 8, 1946, in Mtn. Home, Ark., and to this union three sons were born, Dale Eugene, Ronnie Dean and Randy Lee. Norma was a member of Mt. Tabor General Baptist Church.
Norma was a clerk for several years at the Discount Mart in Ava and was a fulltime homemaker. She loved her family, friends, farm, quilting, gardening, cooking and playing dominoes with special friends Arlee Murray and Floyd Roberts.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Ronnie Dean and one brother, Damon Guthery.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Norman, of the home; two sons and a daughter-in law, Dale Duckworth and special friend, Bonnie White, of Springfield, Cindy (Duckworth) Hollis, and husband, Glen, of Bloomfield, and Randy Duckworth and wife, Ann, of Ava; six grandchildren, Jeremy Duckworth and wife, Preta, of Kannapolis, N.C., Julie Duckworth, of Springfield, Rhonda Duckworth, Strafford, Jason Duckworth and wife, Lorrie, Bloomfield, Eric Duckworth, Ava, Becky Duckworth, Columbia; and daughter-in-law, Johnnie Duckworth, of Springfield. Norma was blessed to have four great-grandchildren, Miti Duckworth, of North Carolina, Torrie and Caleb, and Holden Duckworth, all of Bloomfield, and one brother, Delmar Guthery and wife, Elizabeth, of Ava, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 11, in Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Revs. Ronnie Pinckney and Lee Maggard officiating. Interment will be in the Ava Cemetery.
Visitation will be tonight (Thursday) from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Tom Johnson officiating.
