She was born on Aug. 22, 1914, in Bartlett, Texas, to the late Reginald and Sudie (Morris) Teague. Services for Eula Hollis, 90, of Memphis, Texas, were Friday, Feb. 25, 10 a.m., at Hughs Memorial Chapel in Memphis, Texas, with her grandson, Pastor Rob Hollis, officiating, assisted by Rev. Bruce Howard. Burial was at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 26, at Nogal Cemetery near Carrizozo, New Mexico, with Rev. Hayden Smith officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Memphis, Texas.
Mrs. Hollis passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, in Memphis, Texas.
She was born on Aug. 22, 1914, in Bartlett, Texas, to the late Reginald and Sudie (Morris) Teague. She grew up in central Texas. She married J. N. “Shorty” Hollis on Dec. 24, 1933, in the parsonage of First Baptist Church in Texaco, New Mexico, where her grandson, Rob, is now pastor. Mrs. Hollis lived in Plainview, Texas for a number of years before moving to Ava on July 4, 1962. She later moved to Carrizozo, New Mexico, residing there for nearly 20 years. She moved to Memphis, Texas in June of 1997. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Carrizozo, New Mexico, where she taught Sunday school for many years. Mrs. Hollis was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by her husband on May 28, 1992; two infant sons; and one brother, Virgil Teague.
She is survived by four sons, Richard Hollis, Sr., of Memphis, Texas, Gerald Hollis, of Memphis, Texas, Tommie Hollis, Ava, and Donnie Hollis, of Tulsa, Okla.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
