Boyd H. Turley, 72

Boyd H. Turley, son of Worden and Velma Rice Turley, was born June 21, 1932, at Ditt, Mo., and passed away Feb. 28, 2005, in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, at the age of 72.

Boyd grew up in Ozark County, moved to Kansas City, and had lived in Ava for the past 42 years. He held various positions in the lumber business before retiring to their family farm. He was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Ava and Gideons International.

On Dec. 22, 1951, Boyd and Nina Sue Peacock were united in marriage in Mtn Home, Ark. They were blessed with three daughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Larry Dean.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Nina Sue, of the home; daughters, Suzette and husband, David Litwiller, Phyllis Turley, and Gail and husband, Randy Dalton; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister and her husband, Lurene and Leon Harris, Ava; brothers, Donald and wife, Leveta, Edwardsville, Kan., Conley and wife, Violet “Honey”, Kansas City, Kan., and Rondol and wife, Kathy, Kansas City, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. today (Thursday) at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Revs. Randy Dalton and Robert Roberts officiating. Interment will be in the Lutie Cemetery.

Visitation was held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Oren Alcorn. Memorials may be made to Gideons International or the Lutie Cemetery Fund.
