Darrell Russell Todd, son of Russell and Lelah (Combs) Todd, was born April 16, 1942, at Bradleyville, and entered into eternal rest on Jan. 21, 2005, in Springfield, at the age of 62.
Darrell was a lifelong resident of the Bradleyville community. He served on the Bradleyville R-1 School Board for several years. He was previously employed with Hiland Dairy and Coca-Cola as a distributor. He was serving as a trustee of the Patterson Cemetery of which he took great pride. Darrell and his wife owned and operated the Beaver Creek Trucking Co.
He served as the Sunday school superintendent at Caney General Baptist Church in Brown Branch.
On May 26, 1960, Darrell and Nancy Cornett were united in marriage near Ava. To this union six children were born. They include four daughters, Belinda and husband, Randy Wyman, of Bradleyville, Carla and husband, Lester Platt, of Ava, Lisa and husband, Walter Rogers, and Gaylene and husband, Shane Whittaker, all of Bradleyville; and two sons, Thomas and wife, Michelle Todd, and Tony and wife, Cindy Todd, all of Bradleyville.
On April 27, 1996, Darrell and Susan Sanders were united in marriage and to this union one daughter, Remanda LeeAnn, was born.
Other survivors include his mother, Lelah Todd, of Forsyth Health Care; nine grandchildren, Rachel and William Platt, Dusty and Cody Rogers, Sonya Malcolm, Emily, Ethan and Heidi Todd, and Kambria Todd; four stepchildren, Larry Joe, Timothy and Joshua Sanders, and Reanee Wolf; five step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Herd, of Ava, Martha Sue and husband, Wondy Cornett, of Houston, Texas, and Charlotte Ann Roberts, of Branson; and a host of relatives and friends.
Darrell was preceded in death by his father, Russell Todd; one brother-in-law, Billy Herd; one niece, Kimberly Bird; and one step-grandson, Justin Wyman.
Darrell enjoyed spending time with his family and church family. He especially enjoyed singing with his sisters. He was a kind and loving person always lending a helping hand to those in need.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the White River Association Building at Taneyville, with the Revs. R.E. Helsley, Bill Austin and Randy Dalton officiating. Burial was in Patterson Cemetery at Bradleyville.
Services were under the direction of Forsyth Whelchel Chapel.
