Opal E. Evans, 94

Opal Evans, the daughter of Clarence Elliott and Fannie Elizabeth Haynes Elliott, was born March 1, 1910, in Vera Cruz, and departed this life Jan. 8, 2005, at the age of 94. Opal was a resident of Ozark for the past 30 years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Evansdale Church, and a past member of the Eastern Star. On May 18, 1929, Opal and Thomas Lee Evans were united in marriage in Cheney, Mo., and to this union five children were born. Opal enjoyed quilting, sewing and taking care of family.

Opal was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; two sisters; a daughter, Deloris Mincks; an infant son, Charles Don; a granddaughter; and her husband, Thomas Lee Evans.

Opal is survived by two daughters, Joyce and husband, Bill Lee, Nixa, and Shirley Hutchison, Ozark; one son, Tony and wife, Roma Evans, Ozark; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Esther Mears, Ozark; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Freeda Holt officiating. Interment was in the Evans Cemetery.
