Daphna J. Hathcock, 87

Daphna J. Hathcock, 87, of Gainesville, died on Jan. 10, 2005, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. She was born Sept. 4, 1917, to Elisha and Mary (Kyle) Luna in Ozark County. Daphna and Arvis L. Hathcock were married Jan. 26, 1934.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Don and Aletta Hathcock and Leroy and Delores Hathcock, all of Springfield; and one daughter, Phyllis Hathcock, of Gainesville; six grandchildren, Jeff Hathcock and wife, Barbara, Tulsa, Okla., Diana Radke and husband, Mike, Rogersville, Timothy Hathcock and wife, Rebecca, Republic, Alan Hathcock, Springfield, Anthony Hathcock, Gainesville, and Timothy Kerr, Gainesville; three great-grandchildren, Taryn Quessenberry and husband, Josh, Devin Radke, and Eli Hathcock; one step-great-grandson, Keith Jones and wife, Heather, Norman, Okla.; one great-great-granddaughter, Kennedy Quessenberry.

Daphna did child care for some 20 years in her home. She loved to piece quilts by hand and made many beautiful quilts for her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and sisters, seven half brothers and sisters, her husband, of 50 years, and an infant son, Jerry.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Church of Christ in Gainesville with burial in Patrick Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home of Gainesville.
