Ruth Loraine McIntosh, daughter of the late Edmond Luther and Blanche (Shanklin) Shores, was born on March 29, 1920, in Wichita, Kan., and departed this life on Jan. 2, 2005, at her residence in Ava, following a battle with cancer. She was 84.
Ruth grew up and attended school in Quitman, Mo. She was united in marriage to Loren G. McIntosh on Nov. 26, 1938, in Maryville, Mo. Two children were born to this union. Mr. McIntosh passed away in 1999.
Ruth enjoyed being outdoors, especially when tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, working in her yard, and on her farm.
She was a loving mother who enjoyed taking care of her family and spending time with them. She also enjoyed visiting with her many neighbors and friends.
Ruth had attended the Christian Church as long as her health permitted.
She is survived by her son, Lewis McIntosh and his wife, Agnes, of Springfield; her daughter, Donna Brown and husband, Roy, of Ava; two step-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Retherford Cemetery, Norwood, with the Rev. Dustin Ledford officiating. Burial was in the Retherford Cemetery under the direction of Craig-Hurtt-Bradley Funeral Home of Mtn. Grove.
