Harl Want Elliott, son of Clarence Elliott and Fannie (Hay-nes) Elliott, was born on March 31, 1908 in Brushyknob, Mo., and passed away on June 13, 2004, in Ava, at the age of 96 years. Harl was a lifelong resident of the Ava community. He owned and operated a sawmill company and worked on it all his life. Harl was a Christian and attended the Evansdale Church for many years and later in life attended the Ava General Baptist Church.
Harl married Zelma Nall, and to this union one son was born. Zelma preceded in death.
In 1928, Harl and Daisy Rhoades were united in marriage in Sweden, Mo. To this union five children were born. Daisy preceded in death.
On March 18, 1941, Harl and Lena Rhoades Coonts were united in marriage in Ozark. Lena pre-ceded in death in 1987. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Fannie; six brothers and sisters, Carl, Jerry, Lillie, Susie, Otis and Eugene; one grand-son, Darin Elliott; one grand-daughter, Gayla; and three step-children, Willard, Burl and Eva.
His survivors include six chil-dren, Alvin Elliott, Gunnison, Colo., Lorene Thurman, Albert Elliott and Harley “Tom” Elliott, all of Ava, Dortha Elliott Seymour, and Pauline Ellison, Theodosia; two step-children, Geneva Heinlein and Dan Coonts, both of Ava; a step-daughter-in-law, Frances Coonts; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; two sisters, Opal Evans and Esther Mears, both of Ozark; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Harl enjoyed fishing, saw mill-ing, squirrel hunting, and being with his family.
Services were held Wednesday, June 16, 2 p.m., at the Clinking-beard Chapel, Ava, with the Rev. Oren Alcorn and Rev. Dale Garri-son officiating. Interment was in the Evans Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Evansdale Church. Services were conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
